DETAILS:

The Resort

According to worldsnowboardguide.com, Hokkaido is “Not just the best area in Japan to visit for powder snow, but the best in the World. The amount of snow Hokkaido receives, with a fluffiness that is unparalled, is insane.”⠀Although relatively little-known outside of Japan, Furano is one of Japan's most famous ski resorts. Situated in the middle of Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, Furano benefits from Siberian storm systems that pass over the Sea of Japan and then dump the lightest and driest snow in all of Hokkaido - and 9 meters of it each season. After a big snow fall there is often untracked powder for days. The Furano Ski area is made up two zones, the Kitanomine zone (Mid. Dec - Late Mar) and the Furano zone (Late Nov - Early May). We will be there for prime conditions in both zones. Both of these zones can be accessed with the lift tickets that are included in the trip and are serviced by 11 lifts. Furano has an abundance of varied terrain for every level of skier and snowboarder and a vertical drop of over 950 meters, making it one of the steepest mountains in Hokkaido. Furano is a world-class resort bordered by Hokkaido's stunning Daisetsu-zan National Park. It has hosted the FIS Downhill World Cup 10 times and regularly hosts National and International ski and snowboard events including the 2005/2006 Snowboard World Cup. Many of Japan's top skiers choose to base themselves here due to the great conditions and exhilarating mountain. Click here for a map of the resort.

The Hotel

Offering ski in/ski out access to Furano ski resort, the New Furano Prince Hotel is a modern 12-story building offering world-class services and amenities, including five onsite restaurants, two bars/lounges, three coffee shops and a bakery. You can see it bottom left on the map linked above. After a day of floating through Japan’s famous powder, guests can soak in the natural indoor hot spring in the hotel and enjoy the many spa services and facilities like massage, saunas and more. There is complimentary Wi-Fi available in all the rooms. Beyond the hotel, it is a very short walk to the food and other typical resort amenities usually available at the foot of a recreational mountain, and a slightly longer walk or shuttle ride to the center of the town of Furano, which has a winery, artesian cheese maker, bars and other nightlife, fancier Japanese baths than we will find in the hotel, and shopping. Part of why we chose Furano is that it offers a nice balance between being accessible to westerners while still retaining a strong Japanese cultural experience. PLEASE NOTE: all rooms are double occupancy for this trip. We can get a private room for you for an additional $565.

Please note- flight times and numbers are subject to change. Most up to date flight information will be provided

with group travel details approximately 3 weeks prior to travel.

Standard baggage fees apply at your own cost.

Transportation between CTS and our hotel on both ends of the trip is included with your retreat package.

We are getting a great rate on travel as a group. If you are not coming from LA, it will probably be best for you to catch flights into and out of LAX that get you on these flights rather than getting a direct flight from where you are.

Want to extend your flight and stay longer? If we get a least 10 people flying on the scheduled flight package, there is no penalty to extend your flight, but you will have to pay any fee differences according to prices dependent on dates and times. Extensions will have to be arranged before tickets are fully booked. If we do not get at least 10 people flying on the scheduled flight package, there will be a $300 flight penalty in addition to any fee differences according to prices dependent on dates and times.

If you want to book your own flight, subtract $800. If you do not arrange your arriving and returning flights so that you can catch transfers with the group from New Chitose airport to the hotel, you must also arrange your own transfers at your own expense.

The Yoga

There will be yoga with me twice a day for the five full days that we are at the hotel. If time and space permit, we will add a class the evening we arrive and a class the morning we leave. Morning sessions (7:30ish, one hour) will be moderate vinyasa, focused on warming up the lower body for getting on the mountain while strengthening the upper body to complement the lower body strength that will be going on all day. Evening session (5:30ish, one hour) will be a very light flow aimed at remove lactic acid from your muscles, leading into restorative stretches designed to aid recovery and prepare you for the next day's adventures. PLEASE NOTE that we will not have a proper yoga studio to practice in. We will be practicing in a conference room or similar. I personally will practice almost anywhere I am not likely to kick anything by accident, but I mention this to you in the interest of transparency.

Meals

Breakfast at the hotel is included every day of the trip, offering a buffet of both asian and western-style foods. You will be on your own for lunch. A welcome dinner and farewell dinner will be included with your trip as well, and we will aim to provide you with a list of local options around the hotel and in town for the nights we do not eat together. We are still looking into the details of this. If you have dietary restrictions, please submit them to me via email. We will try to work with them as best as possible but cannot guarantee anything.

Lift Tickets

You will get 3 Full-Day lift tickets with your trip package, which give you access to both zones of the mountain the whole entire day (night riding!!). If you are hardcore and want to get out every single day, we can arrange to buy more passes as a group (for the best prices) but they will be at your expense. We will arrange this most likely on the Wednesday that we are there, once we get a good sense of conditions and how well our legs are holding up.

Extras

What I have described above will be included in your trip at minimum. We may decide to add extras at any time at no additional cost to you, heavily dependent on participation as we go forward. If you do research into the area and find an activity that interests you, please let me know and I will consider it if we do decide to add more to the trip.

Deposits

I will take a deposit of $999 any time you are ready to sling it. Your deposit will reserve your space and lock in a price according to the price list at the top of this email. Your deposit is non-refundable and you agree to pay in full by December 1st, 2017. However, your trip will remain transferable until air tickets are fully booked, also December 1st. If during this period (before air tickets are booked) you decide that you can no longer make the trip, you can sell your trip to someone else. In this case, the receiver of the trip must pay in full to me before I will refund you your deposit.

Please email me at jayco@jaycoyoga.com if you have any questions. I am way super psyched to adventure with you.

F*ck yeah,
