Overview

 

Our yogaraj official Teacher Training is a 200-hour, Yoga-Alliance-registered, 11-week program designed to help you share your own unique point of view with the world around you. This coming Summer session will feature a teaching team of myself and Brent Laffoon!

 

The program covers all areas of anatomy, physiology, practice, physical adjustment, verbal cuing, sequencing, nutrition, situational analysis, and marketing that are necessary to safely and effectively teach yoga to others.

 

Though you will thoroughly cover the "nuts and bolts" of the physical practice of asana, you will also explore extensively the mental and philosophical aspects of the entire practice using Patanjali's 8 limbs of yoga and an ecclectic selection of readings as a springboard for discussion.

 

Teacher training is not just for those looking to teach yoga. It is an incredibly valuable experience to those who are looking for an effective way to add some deeper layers to their practice.

 

Hours

 

Summer Session 2016 will run June 4 to August 27, 2017. TT Students will meet for class every Sunday from 8am to 6pm, except for Sunday July 2nd. These sessions will be held at yogaraj. The average class day will look something like this:

 

8:00 - 9:45 anatomy

10:00 - 11:30 group practice

11:30 - 12:30 lunch

12:30 - 2:30 posture study

2:30 - 4:00 philosophy

4:00 - 6:00 teaching methodology

 

TT Students will be required to take a minimum of three additional yoga classes per week - one with a teacher of our choosing, one with a teacher of your choosing, and one practice with yourself. You will find that the best way to learn something is to apply it often and much.

 

You will have both a written and practical final exam. The practical final will require you to organize and teach a class to Brent and I and at least three other students.

 

Download a sample syllabus here. It will be a little different for the coming Summer session, but this will give you a very good idea of what to expect from Teacher Training.

 

Tuition

 

Tuition for Teacher Training is $3,000. If you are one of the first 5 students to enroll, your tuition is only $2500!

 

Deposit for TT is $500 and is absolutely non-refundable. Payment plans are discussed in the following section of this overview, but every TT student will be responsible for this deposit to hold a spot in the program.

 

Your tuition includes all books and materials needed for the training program.

 

Tuition DOES NOT include payment for any yoga classes that you are required to take as part of the program. It also DOES NOT include food during TT class sessions.

 

Payment Plan

 

I will take a payment plan from anyone who would like to pay in installments. The longest plan I will consider is four months.

 

A four month plan would essentially come down to a $500 deposit plus four payments of $625. First payment would be due on or before the first day of class . Subsequent payments are due on the first of each following month. If you receive the discount for being one of the first 5 students to enroll, amounts would adjust to a $500 deposit plus four payments of $500. Payment dates would be the same.

 

I will require a credit card number to hold as collateral against any payment plan. You will get seven days grace on any given month before I charge the card for a missed payment. Basically, I will charge on the 7th of the month if you do not pay in some other form before then. Charged cards will incur a +3% fee to cover processing.
